In Michigan, the Detroit police work with local trucking companies and they have trained together to help stop suicides.
When the police are contacted about someone attempting to jump off an expressway overpass, they call the trucking companies and shut down the expressway.
The semi drivers then line up under the bridge, trying to reduce the distance to fall should the person jump.
They enacted this practice on April 24, 2018. The man ended up being talked into not jumping, but still the practice worked.
